....is what I used to think whenever someone mentions the word "Math".
My mind is always in shambles when Math is involved.
Truthfully, I am not very keen on the subject and I am not denying that I'm one of those people who thought at first Math is extremely difficult and boring. I still believe it is. However, some aspect of it may not be so dull to look at after all. Well, what I've always hated with the field of Mathematics were Algebra, Pythagorean Theorem, and other
You don't use algebra when you become a cashier.
You don't need numbers with the help of letters to make a painting.
You won't bring world peace with it.
Sometimes I feel a little silly to think like this, but looking at it, it's kind of true.
However, from what I recently learned, Math isn't all about just computations and numbers, but it also covers business strategies and the likes.
Today, you can't deny the world revolves around money.
And money means business.
You can't learn business when you don't know its rules and numbers.
Frankly ever since I was a kid, Math has always been my weakest point. All I did was draw and write. I find literature and arts to be more interesting. You could say Math and I aren't exactly on friendly terms. I got normal grades for that subject, nothing to be proud of actually. Yet I was happy I could still pass it, even though I was barely hanging on the subject. But as we all grow up, our world is also changing. From our childhood days, it can't be helped that we must soon step into the grown-up world; we're talking about industries, work, companies, and business. Once you reach the age of employment, its not enough to just "barely" pass Math.
And since money has become a point of interest for the world, it means not only to run with computations and numbers, but as well as business strategies. You can't enter the business world armed with calculator and computers alone. Tactics are needed in order to make some progress in any kind of business these days. Careful planning and analysis is a must for a successful outcome.
Also, because of a previous lesson in our subject Business Math last week, that's where I decided Math can be your friend (sometimes). It helped us to figure that we can do certain things because of math. Tips and tricks are given that we realize business math is one of the main keys to reach the success in our future careers. Hey, and with this subject, certain jobs and courses exist because of it; Accounting, Financing, and even Engineering. It has become an important field wherein it has created job opportunities for the world.
So I guess whenever someone mentions Math now, basically I would have an even more broader idea on what it actually is. With Business Math, I'll start thinking about business plans and strategies, instead of hard-to-solve problem solving and
On to discovering the good side of Math!
"It Math-thers" (It Matters) Yes, lame pun I know. Hey, everyone's doing it :)
Thanks for reading! I'm not really good with writing and blogging is a first for me. I tried not making it with a too serious approach. Also, this blog contains the replica of my thoughts. I didn't want to try and sugar coat anything =w=
Hopefully I'm doing all right with blogging *sighs* Comments are appreciated and loved! <3
Thank you for bearing with me haha xD

ReplyDeleteI totally agree! Couldn't have said it better myself. Math surely is a headache but it greatly affects our daily living. I cannot imagine a world without it. How could civilizations become what it is now if it weren't for circulating money and such. Good article. It teems with truth.
ReplyDelete(Sorry for the deleted post, I made a horrible typo.)
Some things, like Math, have really huge impact in our lives. We just didn't realize it before until now!
ReplyDeleteHaha yes! Back then I always hear my classmates complain how difficult math is. It is really difficult but deep inside me I was somehow liking it, I can't tell them though because it would seem weird hahaha! Anyway this is actually a good article! It's nice to be introduced to a new way of seeing math =P
ReplyDeleteYou're weird. Kidding!
ReplyDeleteMath is in our blood! Math is really helpful in our daily living, maybe just simple Math not the hjfbdjsfniwej83473 Math. Let us free our minds to love Math with open arms!! :D
For me, I really love math but I agree with you in some terms like we don't use all we've learned in Math in our daily lives. Good thing Business Math is there that it convinced you to like math a little bit. xD
ReplyDeleteI have short attention span too especially during class hours LOL :)) However, if you befriend math and exert effort in learning it, you'll find it unbelievably easy... "sometimes". XD
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence! We had the same thing in mind about our blog's name! Good thing I changed mine just recently :D BTW, you are a good writer. You let your ideas flow into writing. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI like the way how you think of math.. hahaha :) well as your blog's name is concerned, math really matters to all of us but only few simple calculations, and forms of math are usually used by people. Just like me, I'am not afraid of numbers but I think the numbers are afraid of me. Oh well I had fun reading your blog :)) keep it up :)
ReplyDeleteThe same goes for me. I find literature way more interesting than math. I am not a math-lover myself and we share the same sentiments. You're not alone. But you're right. Business and math are twins and so are money and business.. and we need money so we need math :P
ReplyDeletehey mela. i must agree. math does matter. it math-thers.:)
ReplyDeleteHahahaha I agree everytime I get to hear math. I kinda hear screams in my head. XD I have to agree that "Math-thers" hahaha. We can't avoid it but I hope that I could patiently love and understand :) Lets all be successful in business in the future :D
ReplyDeleteNice, simple and catchy way to communicate to others that 'math' really 'math-thers', for all of us. Really appreciated your article :)
ReplyDeleteWow Carmela! First of all, I really love your blog name. It really does Math-er! :) I love your honesty in this post. I, myself, am not a big fan of math either but when Sir Paner taught us how easy it is to make money out of it, I became very interested and very intrigued. Looking forward to your next post!
